Seattel Redhawks 1 Portland State Vikings 1 Draw

SeattleU Women’s Soccer Draws 1-1 with Portland State in Double Overtime - Seattle University Redhawks Athletics

In a midweek matchup, the Seattle University women's soccer team drew 1-1 in double overtime with Portland State University for their first tie of the season. Despite controlling the score for most of the game and taking a first half 1-0 lead, the Redhawks could not come out of Oregon with their first road win of the season. SU is now 5-5-1 on the season.

With less than five minutes remaining in the first half, junior Kara Kuttler found the back of the net for the sixth time this season. The Portland State goalkeeper attempted to clear the ball out of the box and Kuttler intercepted it to get SU on the board right before halftime. The Redmond, Wash. native tallied five shots in the game, three of which were on goal.

Prior to Kuttler's goal, PSU came out of the gate firing and kept goalkeeper Madison Goverde on her toes. The Seattle 'keeper had a season-high 10 saves on the night. Just as the game got underway they fired off consecutive shots, before SU could get the ball to their end of the field. The Vikings outshot the Redhawks 21-12, with 11 shots on goal to SU's four. Until late in the second half, the SeattleU defense was able to keep the Portland State offense at bay.

Reiter’s Goal Leads SeattleU to 3-1 Victory Over Utah State - Seattle University Redhawks Athletics

Behind three different goal scorers the Seattle University women's soccer team earned a 3-1 victory over Utah State University Sunday afternoon at Championship Field. With the three-goal win over the Aggies, the Redhawks remain perfect at home this season and improve to 5-5 on the season.

SU saw contributions throughout the lineup, as they outshot USU 18-11, with nine shots on goal to the Aggies' six. On the defensive end of the field, sophomore Jordan Salisbury made several clutch stops to prevent Utah State from ever being able to get a goal advantage. The Redhawk central defender often ended up being SU's last line of defense and was consistently successful in cutting off the Aggie striker's runs into the Seattle box. Between the posts, Goverde had four saves on the day to bring her season total to 50.

SeattleU returns to action on Tuesday, Sept. 22, when they travel to Portland State to take on the Vikings in a 7 p.m. contest. The Redhawks then return home to host the University of San Francisco on Sunday, Sept. 27, at 1 p.m.
